Whether you’re moving or just in the market for short- or long-term storage solutions, you may find yourself with a number of questions about your self storage options. Fortunately, the storage experts at Pond Springs Mini Storage, Mopac Self Storage, and Ben White Mini Storage have put together the following list of frequently asked questions and their answers to hopefully address all of your storage-related questions. How large of a storage unit will I need?

Though our largest units can comfortably store a vehicle and still leave enough room to store large pieces of furniture, we offer several unit sizes in an effort to accommodate the specific storage needs our customers have. If you only plan on storing a relatively low number of boxes, for instance, you may only need a 5’ x 5’ unit to suit your needs. In any case, you should visit our size estimator page to get a better idea of the types of items each of our units can reasonably accommodate.

Do you offer climate controlled units?

Yes, we offer climate controlled units in several sizes at both our Mopac and Pond Springs locations. Climate control will be particularly important if you plan on storing any valuable items that may be environmentally sensitive—for instance, computers, antiques, family heirlooms, paintings, photos, and books. By maintaining a stable temperature and level of humidity inside of your unit, you may rest assured that the condition of your property will not be affected by outside conditions.

Do you have any basic tips for the storage of my items?

The first thing you will need to do is create a plan for the storage of your items. By doing so, you will know exactly where to put things when first store your items in the unit and, moreover, prevent yourself from ever having to rearrange your items in the future. Beyond having that initial plan, it will probably be useful for you to label all any boxes that you will be storing in order to better ensure you know exactly where you items are inside of the unit. Once you items are all stored away, you should avoid covering them with materials like plastic that retain moisture; instead, use breathable sheets or blankets to cover your items and to prevent dust from settling on them. What can you do for my business?

By providing your business with a safe, off-site location to store documents and other business-related items, you will be able to free up all the space around your business that those items are currently taking up. By freeing up the space you have been dedicating to storing these items yourself, you will be able to keep a more open, tidy office space that holds only the items you need more regularly.

What are the benefits of drive-up units?

Since you will be able to pull your vehicle right up to the unit, you will be able to both reduce the amount of time that it will take to unload your items and the reduce the labor associated with the process. This will be critical if you will be storing large, heavy pieces of furniture in your unit, especially if you plan on picking up those items again in the near future. Moreover, if you are simply storing your possessions before a move, a drive-up unit can help you ensure the process of unloading and loading your property back up will be all the more efficient.
